TURN PALE - 'Kill the Lights' CD

Kill the Lights is the debut for Bloomington Indiana's avant-death-disco-punks.  Turn Pale fuse inspirations like the Fall, Joy Division and Gang Of Four but still manage to come up with something that's unique, exigent and a litle scary all at the same time.  The weird echo on the vocals adds to the mayhem of the more conventional setup of drums, bass and guitar.  Kill the Lights is repetitious frantic racket that could definitely kick some life into the pathetic shadow that Goth has become, but I bet the black-clad kids at the mall are too busy buying temporary hair dye to notice. -- Tiffany
